CALL TO
ORDER
An Emergency
meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners was called to order
by Board Chair Hesse at 11:38 a.m. Present were: Commissioner
Greg Hesse, Commissioner Lee Boling, Commissioner Jonathan
Ferraiuolo - via conference call, and Chief William Walkup.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Waiver
of Competitive Bidding Requirements - On February 6, 2008,
the roof of Station 82 unexpectedly collapsed as a result of
adverse weather conditions. The ability to immediately repair
and use the station was imperative to prevent further property
damage and to provide for the health and safety of district
residents. District staff began working with the district’s
insurance carrier to coordinate and expedite the necessary
repairs to the station and to retain contractors with the
necessary knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the repairs
in a timely manner.
Motion:
Ferraiuolo/Boling to Approve Resolution No. 08-01, to declare
emergency repairs are required for Station 82, waive the
competitive bidding requirements, and authorize the Fire Chief
to work with the district’s insurance carrier and enter into one
or more contracts with qualified contractors to perform the
necessary repairs. The motion carried unanimously.

business, Commissioner Hesse adjourned the meeting at 12:50 p.m.
