OPPORTUNITIES
Fire District 8 offers a progressive, challenging
and fulfilling opportunity in the fire service. The Volunteer On-Duty Firefighters
will be an integral part of the Districts response team.
Members will be accepted from outside the boundaries of the
District.
Volunteer On-Duty Firefighters will be
trained to provide coverage and staff district stations.
Volunteers will be required to
complete initial orientation and training, prior to being
assigned to a station. Members will receive between $35 and $50
per shift reimbursement and will receive reimbursement points
for training attendance. |

EMERGENCY RESPONSE
Volunteer-On Duty Firefighter will have and
opportunity to respond to structure fires, wildland fires, vehicle
collisions, medical aid and hazardous materials incidents. |
|

TRAINING
Training is vital to successful fire
ground operations and compliance with WISHA and OSHA standards. The new
volunteer will be scheduled to attend approximately 266 hours of
training beginning with a 92 hour training academy program.
Training will be conducted by either Region 9 or by the District |

CONTINUED TRAINING
The District provides ongoing
training
to maintain levels of proficiency and certifications. Volunteer On-Duty
Firefighters must
attend a minimum training hours annually. Training is regularly
scheduled. |

Process

Requirements

Must
be at least 18 Years of age.

Pass
entry and application process.
-
Complete
initial required training.
-
Maintain
minimum training requirements.
Required to complete a minimum of 2-12 hours shifts per month and
attend 6 training sessions per quarter.
