Insurance Information

Fire Class Rating – Fire District 8 has an ISO Class Rating of 5. Your rating may be higher if your property is greater than five miles from a fire station. 

Hydrants – Most hydrants are located on street corners or in the center of the block and are spaced 500 to 1,000 feet apart. If you live in an area with no fire hydrants, the District will provide water tenders for supply water during a fire. Check your neighborhood to locate the hydrants near your home. 

No Hydrant Area – Fire District 8 operated three 3,000 gallon water tenders in areas without hydrants. All response structure engines carry 1,000 gallons of water.

Auto Aid and Mutual Aid – SCFD8 has Auto Aid Agreements with Fire District 3 for the Ridge at Hangman development and Spokane Valley Fire Department for the Bella Vista, Park Hills, and Valley View Hills areas. The District has mutual aid agreements with all other fire departments and districts in Spokane County. 

o   Auto Aid – Fire crews are dispatched automatically at the initiation of an incident.

o   Mutual Aid – Resources are dispatched at the request of the incident commander. 

Station Staffing – All stations are staffed 24-hours a day. Fire District 8 uses a combination career and volunteer response system.

Some insurance carriers may assess a higher premium if your property is greater than five road miles from a fire station.
