Spokane County Fire District 8


Spokane County Fire District 8 was established in 1947 to serve the communities of Moran, Glenrose, Valleyford, Freeman, Mica, Ponderosa and Chester. The District later grew in size encompassing the Saltese area in early 1980.

Spokane County Fire District 8 is celebrating sixty years of service to the community in and around Spokane County. The District serves approximately 110 square miles of commercial, residential and agricultural areas. The population served is approximately 20 thousand. Four stations are staffed with a combination of career and volunteer personnel.  Our annual budget is around 3  million dollars and our ISO/ WSRB insurance rating is a class 5.

 

The District averages about 1000 incidents annually. Emergency Medical responses accounts for about 75 percent of these incidents.

 

The District  is a combination career and volunteer staffed agency.  There are approximately 20 full-time staff and 40 volunteers. The District operates a resident program which assists in staffing the stations.
